Palace of Vorontsov in Alupka, Crimea

Ukraine in picturesUkraine sightseeingAlupka Palace

Count Vorontsov was a Governor of Novorossia (with a center in Odessa this area also included Crimea) from 1820-th to 1840-th. In Crimea in Alupka he has built a Residence (finished in 1848) which now is known as Alupka Palace or Vorontsov Palace. (Note: technically it cannot be called a Palace, because Vorontsov is not a member of Royal family!). Castle is built in 5 different architectural styles and remind British Castles of different ages. Everything is made so perfectly, that borders between different styles are almost invisible. Southern facade is built in Eastern style. Vorontsov Palace is biggest and probably most beautiful Palace in Crimea and Ukraine.

At the moment (February 05, 2012) I have 7 photos in a folder Alupka Palace.
