Crimea mountains are not high. The highest peak is Roman-Kosh situated at BabuGan mountain plateau. Main chain of Crimean mountains goes from Sevastopol till almost Feodosia along the Black sea coast. Southern slopes (overlooking the sea) are steep. Area near Foros is extremely popular for multipitch climbing. All in all there are 3 chain of mountains in Crimea: main chain, internal chain (also associated with Cave cities) and external chain (insignificant and not used for hiking, but those hills are partly used for paragliding). There are 6 big mountain plateaus in Crimea: Ai-Petri, BabuGan, Chatyr-Dah, Demerdzhi, Dolhorukovka and the biggest among them Karabi. Karabi is also a caving area with hundreds of vertical limestone caves.
